What Sets Us Apart

The difference
is in the
execution.

Most outdoor projects start with a quote. Ours start with a question: what does this property actually need? From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, nothing is left to chance.

Design before demolition

We don't quote before we plan. Every project begins with a full site analysis and concept drawing — you see the finished vision before a single stone moves.

One crew, start to finish

The team that arrives on day one is here on the last day. No subcontractors on structural work. No handoffs. No surprises.

25 years in Central Texas terrain

Hill country limestone, caliche, Austin clay, drainage. The challenges of this soil shaped us — they don't surprise us, they inform every decision we make.

A simple request.
A complete transformation.

Completed backyard transformation — West Austin, TX

The homeowners originally called us about landscaping. What they really had was a backyard full of missed opportunities.

The steep grade changes made large portions of the property difficult to use. Aging retaining walls were beginning to show their age. Outdoor spaces felt disconnected. And despite having plenty of square footage, there was very little room for the family to actually spend time together outside.

Like many homeowners, they assumed they needed plants. What they really needed was a plan.

As we explored the property, the conversation quickly shifted from landscaping to possibility. What if the backyard could feel larger? What if the elevation changes became an advantage instead of a limitation? What if the kids had room to run and play without sacrificing aesthetics?

The transformation started with rebuilding the retaining walls in Nicotine Limestone, creating structure and permanence throughout the property. New illuminated stairways connected spaces that previously felt isolated. Thoughtfully selected plantings, specimen accents, and polished black pebbles introduced texture, contrast, and year-round interest.

But the defining moment of the project happened at the back of the property. A steep, largely unusable slope was transformed into a completely level terrace nearly six feet above the original grade. What had once been wasted space became a lawn where the homeowners' children could play, explore, and spend time outdoors every day.

Large-format Lueders Buff pavers tied the upper and lower patios together, creating a seamless flow throughout the backyard and making the entire property feel more expansive, intentional, and inviting.

What began as a request for landscaping became something much more meaningful. The family didn't just gain new plants, patios, and retaining walls. They gained a backyard they could finally use.

"We’d worked with other landscape companies before. What set Fairfield apart was Peter. He came with a real vision — sketches, material ideas, elevation concepts. By the end of the first meeting, we could already see the finished yard in our heads. That had never happened with anyone else."

"Ricardo’s crew was on-site every morning without fail. The project was bigger than we planned — and they still finished ahead of schedule. I’ve never seen a job site run that cleanly."

Mark S.  ·  Bee Cave, TX Worked with Ricardo

"From the first walkthrough to the day they packed up the last tool, it felt like working with people who genuinely cared about the outcome. Our backyard is unrecognizable."

Why homeowners choose Fairfield

Some companies build what you ask for. We build what you actually need.

The most important conversation we have with a homeowner isn't about materials or timelines. It's about how they want to feel in their outdoor space — and what's been stopping them from getting there. Everything else follows from that.

Every project begins with a walkthrough, not a quote.

The crew that starts your project finishes it.

We don't consider a job complete until you do.

25 years of combined experience across Central Texas.

Common questions

Answered clearly.

Both. We design the space and build it — under one roof, with the same team from first sketch to final walkthrough. There's no hand-off to a separate contractor and no translation loss between what was drawn and what gets built.

It starts with a discovery call — a chance to hear about your property, how you use it, and what you've always wished it could be. From there we schedule an on-site walkthrough, develop a design concept, and review it together. Once you're happy with the direction, we build it. Every project closes with a final walkthrough to make sure everything is exactly right.

We work primarily across West Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Westlake Hills, Cedar Park, and the surrounding Hill Country communities. If you're not sure whether your area is covered, reach out — we're happy to discuss it.

It depends on scope. A standalone deck or fence can be completed in a matter of weeks. A full backyard transformation — combining hardscape, landscape design, retaining walls, and structures — may take several months. We'll give you a realistic timeline during the design phase, and we stick to it.

As involved as you want to be. Some homeowners prefer to be consulted at every decision point. Others give us the vision and trust us to execute it. Either way, you'll always know where things stand — we communicate proactively throughout the build, not just when something comes up.

Central Texas allows for outdoor construction nearly year-round. That said, our schedule fills up quickly in spring and early summer. If you want your space ready for summer entertaining or fall evenings, planning in late winter or early spring gives you the best window.
